Beginning Paint Class – Adults

Learn the basics of painting. Each session we will focus on a specific medium (see session titles). All supplies are included in the cost of the session.
Studio Art Class
Aletha Deuel – 2 hr class
$90 for a 6 week session
Bring your own supplies and project. This is an opportunity to refine your project and receive individualized critique from professional artist and teacher, Aletha. This class is student guided and gives great potential for personal growth.
How to Register
Beginning Paint Class
Registration is done online for our adult beginning paint class. Please register online to secure a spot in the class. Click the “Register” button and make sure the class you are interested in is selected. Then click the “Book” button, and fill out your information. The last step will prompt you to pay. If you have previously registered for a class, you will be able to sign in and go straight to the payment section. Online registration closes a few minutes prior to the start of class.
Studio Art Class
New! Registration can now be done online. Registration for this class is currently not set up to pro-rate, so if you register after the session has started you will still be required to pay the full amount. If you are unable to register online, please arrive a few minutes prior to the start of class and pay for the entire session.
We are a nonprofit organization and in order to keep our tuition rates low we are sorry but we are unable to offer refunds.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I register for a session after it has started?
Yes, you can register after a session has started. The price for the beginning paint class will be pro-rated based on the remaining art classes. Cost for Studio Art Class is $90 for a 6 week session and does not include art supplies. Studio Art Class is currently not set up to pro-rate.
What discounts and deals do you offer?
From time to time we will offer coupon codes and promotions – sign up on our e-mail list to be notified, check our Facebook Page Fred’s Creative Kids and keep your eyes open! If you refer a friend, please let us know – you just may receive a discount on future registration! (Please note early bird registration is only for the Adult Beginning Paint Class and the children’s classes, it does not apply to the Studio Art Class)
What should I wear to class?
Please dress according to the weather, but make sure you wear something that could get dirty. Even adults can get paint on their clothes.
What if I miss a class?
As we still have to pay the teacher and other bills, you will be charged unless you make prior arrangements.
Do I need supplies?
Studio Art Class students bring their own supplies. Adult Beginning Paint Class students do not need to bring supplies, all supplies are included in the cost of tuition.
Where do I park?
There is street parking along 9th Ave SW between Fairview Drive and S. Meridian. You can also park along 4th St SW or the green grass lot across from the red gate at the intersection of 4th St SW and 9th Ave SW.
Where is the entrance to the Fred Oldfield Western Heritage and Art Center?
We are located inside the Red Gate of the WA State Fairgrounds — 9th Ave SW between Fairview Drive and S. Meridian. To the left of the red-roofed ticket counters — look for a big blue hanging sign that says “Fred’s Creative Kids Art Classes.” You will enter through a black iron gate and then into the building on the left through the brown door.
